Hi!
My name is Ian Johnson and I have been drawing cartoons for as long as I can remember. My mom loves to tell a story about how one morning when I was about five, she found me happily sitting at the kitchen table with a pad of “post-it” notes. I was completely absorbed in drawing a story about a boy and a dog and as I finished each picture I would peel it off and line it up with the others---instant cartoon panels!
All these years later, I can still become so lost in the world of cartooning. It is all that I have ever wanted to do!
Suits and Guarders is the combination of my cartooning skills with my love of swimming and ultimately my work as a lifeguard. The old adage “write what you know” is true. Whenever I found a humorous situation at work, I would write dialogue and think of how funny it would be in a cartoon. Over time, the characters that you will meet here, began to develop and almost come to life for me. All are composites of co-workers, former swim coaches, supervisors and other special people in my life.
Enjoy!
